
Tower Bridge is the bridge that the Americans thought they were purchasing when they bought London Bridge so to our advantage this well-known and loved London landmark still crosses the Thames.
The bridge can open up to allow tall ships to pass through and travel down stream. The River Thames is an extremely busy waterway with all types of boats sailing up and down. Tourists are most likely to notice the water buses that ferry tourists in between Greenwich and Hampton Court.
On the north side of Tower Bridge is the Tower Bridge ExprienceExhibition. Close by is the Tower of London complete with traditional beefeaters resplendant in their red uniforms. Touring the Tower of London is a worthwhile and often entertaining experience, especially if you have a knowledgeable guide with a sense of humour. There can be fairly lengthy queues, especially during the summer, and expect to have your bag checked on entry.
A short distance down river (behind Tower Bridge) is St. Katherine's Dock with yachts traversing the locks to find moorings. There are smart cafes, Dicken's Inn, hotels and refurbished docklands to explore.

There are several kiosks, ice cream vendors and places to eat close to the Tower of London, a short walk up Tower Hill, across the main road to the left of the World War I memorial finds a good pub with value for money prices for meals.
