The Regeneration of East London

Although much of east London is home to the poorer section of the population including large immigrant communities, certain areas have been regenerated and stand in marked contrast.

The Docklands in Tower Hamlets are one such example where smart modern apartments overlook yachts and boats in marinas. The financial and commercial centre of Canary Wharf with its skyscrapers and acres of glass is most impressive.

Plan a walk though Docklands to visit St Katharine's Dock with its canal lock, marina and sailing boats. Visit Dickens Inn and peruse the various shops. Go for coffee or lunch in the smart cafes and restaurants. The Tower of London is literally around the corner and many of London's main attarctions are within easy reach.
